Bariatric riser recliner: high weight capacity, premium comfort and advanced functions
Designed for people who are overweight or living with obesity, or who have a larger build, and are looking for a high-capacity riser recliner chair with a well-proportioned seat, complete functions and premium quality.
Three elements that make the difference in a high-capacity riser recliner
63 cm
Space in proportion to your build, without squeezing you at the sides.
340 kg
Reinforced structure and mechanism, specifically designed to handle heavy loads.
5–8 motors
From 5 to 8 independent motors, according to the weight capacity, control the main movements separately.
A bariatric riser recliner is not simply a bigger chair
When body weight and size increase, adding a few centimetres to the seat is not enough. Width, depth, armrests, backrest, frame, mechanism and motors must be designed as a single system.
A proportioned seat, not just a wide one
The 63 cm seat offers more space at the sides, while the three seat depths, adjusted by positioning the backrest, let you adapt the support to the person’s proportions. The back, thighs and armrests need to come together comfortably, without pressure at the sides and without an oversized seat.
Reinforced structure and mechanism
The weight capacity of up to 340 kg comes from a structure specifically designed for heavy loads, with a reinforced frame and mechanism. In high-capacity configurations, Sollevita uses a minimum of 6 independent motors, up to 8 according to the weight capacity, to manage the different functions separately.
All functions remain available
Even in high-capacity configurations, Sollevita retains all its advanced functions: Push Head powered headrest, relax function, tilt-in-space, Zero Gravity, 180° lie-flat position, vertical height adjustment, lie-flat transfer configuration and a manually moved wheeled base for moves with the person seated. More capacity, with the same comfort and support.
All the functions you need, in a single chair
Sollevita integrates functions designed to support the different moments of the day: sitting, relaxing, resting, standing up, receiving care and making some transfers easier.
Seated position
What it does: provides an ergonomic, well-proportioned seat with a high backrest, stable armrests and a Push Head powered headrest to adjust the support for the head and neck.
What it is for: reading, chatting, sitting at the table and spending time in a comfortable, stable position, ready for the next movement when it is time to stand up.
Relax function
What it does: lets you adjust the backrest, footrest, Push Head powered headrest and tilt-in-space, moving from the seated position to a more reclined, personalised posture.
What it is for: it helps to better support the legs, back, head and neck, and to find a more comfortable relax position at different times of the day.
Rise function
What it does: gradually raises the seat and guides the person towards a standing position. The same movement also makes sitting back down in the chair easier.
What it is for: making standing up and sitting down easier, with a gradual movement that can be controlled and stopped at any moment.
180° lie-flat position
What it does: brings Sollevita into a fully extended configuration, coordinating the backrest, seat and footrest.
What it is for: resting, taking a short nap or sleeping in the chair, when this suits the person’s habits and needs.
Zero Gravity function
What it does: raises the legs and feet above heart level, placing the body in the Zero Gravity configuration.
What it is for: this position promotes circulation in the lower limbs, offers a cardio-circulatory benefit linked to raising the legs and increases the feeling of lightness and comfort.
Note: Zero Gravity and tilt-in-space are two distinct functions. Tilt-in-space tilts the seat and backrest together while keeping the body supported; Zero Gravity, on the other hand, raises the legs and feet above heart level in a configuration dedicated to relaxation.
Vertical height adjustment and lie-flat transfer configuration
What it does: raises or lowers the whole chair while the person stays seated or lying down. In the 180° lie-flat position and with the side panel removed, it creates a flat surface that can be placed alongside the bed.
What it is for: making some transfers between bed and chair easier and bringing the person to a more convenient height for massage, grooming and trimming of beard and hair, dressing and other daily care activities.
Quality you can see and use, built to last
The advanced functions are only one part of Sollevita. Backrest, seat, upholstery and modular structure are designed to offer real comfort and to make everyday use, cleaning, transport and long-term support easier.
Push Head powered headrest and ergonomic high backrest
The Push Head powered headrest precisely adjusts the support for the head and neck in the different positions. The high backrest, firmer in the lumbar area and softer in the upper part, supports the back along its entire length.
Three-layer seat construction
The seat combines a sprung seat base, a cushion with individually pocketed springs and a comfort top layer. An advanced three-layer technical construction, designed to distribute weight better, adapt to the different contact points and offer support and comfort even during prolonged use.
Fully removable outer and underlying covers
Both the outer cover and the underlying cover are removable. Sollevita is available with stain-resistant, water-repellent fabrics or in faux leather, at no extra cost. Fully removable outer and underlying covers, an exclusive Sollevita feature, make cleaning, washing, replacing the covers and long-term maintenance easier.
Removable backrest, armrests and backrest wings
The backrest, armrests and backrest wings are independent elements that can be removed without tools. The upper armrest section can be removed to bring the chair closer to the table; removing the whole side panel instead frees up side access, making transfers from chair to bed and from bed to chair easier.
Footrest extension
The extension lengthens the footrest surface and gives better support to the legs and feet. It allows the chair to be adapted to different body lengths and proportions, offering more continuous, comfortable support even in the most reclined positions.
Wheeled base with the person seated
The sturdy wheeled base makes it easy to move Sollevita by hand from one room to another with the person comfortably seated. It allows a change of room without the person having to get up from the chair; on request, a rear handle makes small everyday moves even easier.
Washable fabrics and edges finished to resist fraying
The fabrics are easy to spot-clean, water-repellent and washable according to the instructions for the chosen upholstery. Every edge is finished with anti-fray stitching, an exclusive Sollevita feature, designed to better withstand repeated cover removal, washing and maintenance.
Modular construction and easier transport
Sollevita is built from separable modules, without screws, thanks to snap-fit and bayonet coupling systems. It can be taken apart to pass more easily through doors, up stairs and through narrow passages, then reassembled in the room where it will be used. The same structure makes it easier to work on individual elements over time.

Sollevita compared with a standard riser recliner:
what really changes
Many standard riser recliners use two independent motors and offer predefined sizes and movements. Sollevita integrates 5 to 8 independent motors, according to the weight capacity, within a single design that allows the chair’s different functions to be controlled separately. The difference, however, is not only in the number of motors: it shows in the ergonomics, the seat construction, the personalisation, the quality of the finishes and the support over time.
Standard riser recliner
Backrest and head support
Backrest often lower and less ergonomic, with a fixed head support that cannot be adjusted to the position the person is in.
Structural elements
Armrests, backrest and side parts generally fixed or only partly removable, depending on the model.
Seat sizes
Width and depth often determined by the sizes available, not always in proportion to the person’s height, build and weight.
Seat construction
Seat made mainly with traditional foams and padding, arranged in a simpler support system.
Fabric finishing
Edges and seams with standard finishes, whose resistance to cover removal, washing and maintenance needs to be checked.
Sollevita
High backrest and Push Head powered headrest
Ergonomic high backrest with Push Head powered headrest, adjustable to support the head and neck precisely in the different positions.
Independent, removable elements
The backrest, armrests and backrest wings can be removed without tools. The upper armrest section can be removed to get closer to the table; the side panel, on the other hand, can be removed completely to make transfers from the chair to the bed and back easier.
Customisable seat width and depth
Width and depth are chosen according to the person’s height, build and weight, to provide adequate space and keep the back, thighs and feet correctly supported.
Three-layer seat construction
The seat combines a sprung seat base, a cushion with individually pocketed springs and a comfort top layer, to distribute weight better and offer more advanced support over time.
Edges finished to resist fraying
Every fabric element is finished with anti-fray stitching, designed to better withstand repeated cover removal, washing and maintenance.

Available fabrics and colours
Sollevita is available in Raggio di Sole or Mons fabrics or in faux leather, with fully removable outer and underlying covers. The fabrics are treated to be stain-resistant and water-repellent, to make everyday cleaning simpler. Faux leather is also a practical choice for care facilities or where incontinence is an issue, because it allows even quicker and easier maintenance. For the types and colours available in faux leather, you can contact the Sollevita Team directly. Here you will find the fabrics and colours in the collection.
Raggio di Sole fabric

Frequently asked questions
Answers on weight capacity, proportions and functions
A high-capacity configuration must bring together structure, measurements and movements. These answers explain how to read the stated load and how to assess comfort without looking only at the width of the seat.
What sets the bariatric configuration apart from a wider seat?
A bariatric riser recliner must combine space, load capacity and quality of support. In high-capacity configurations, Sollevita uses a reinforced frame and mechanism, specifically designed for heavy loads. The 63 cm wide seat is coordinated with the depth, backrest and armrests, while the motors support the intended movements. So it is not just a matter of widening a seat, but of preparing the entire structure for the person and for the way they use it.
Does the 340 kg figure refer to the person, including during the rise function?
Yes. In the dedicated configuration, 340 kg is the maximum user weight and it also covers the rise function. It is not the total weight of person and chair, nor the capacity of a single motor considered in isolation. Structure, mechanism and motors are sized together for the intended load. The figure to observe is always the weight capacity stated for the configuration delivered, which must not be exceeded.
How many motors does Sollevita use in high-capacity configurations?
In high-capacity configurations, Sollevita uses a minimum of 6 motors, up to 8 according to the intended load. Two work together on the rise function; the others manage the further adjustments. The overall design, by contrast, starts at five motors. This difference concerns only the weight capacity: all functions remain available in every configuration. The reinforced mechanism supports the greater load without reducing the possibilities for relaxation, rest and care.
How do you assess whether the 63 cm wide seat suits your build?
The 63 cm figure is the usable width of the seat, not the overall external size of the chair. This space should be considered together with the depth, the back support and the distance between the armrests. The three depths also make it possible to take the person’s height into account: a larger build does not necessarily mean long legs. The aim is a welcoming seat, with adequate space at the sides and supports within easy reach, not the largest possible size for its own sake.
Does the high-capacity version keep all the functions for rest and care?
Yes. Even in the high-capacity version, Sollevita keeps all its functions: rise function, Push Head powered headrest, relax function, 180° lie-flat position, tilt-in-space, Zero Gravity, vertical height adjustment and lie-flat transfer configuration. Removable armrests, footrest extension, lithium battery and a manually moved wheeled base for short moves with the person seated all remain integrated. The reinforced mechanism is designed for the intended load, with no compromise on the equipment or the premium comfort described on the Product page.
How are transfers prepared when the person has a larger build?
Load, space, the height of the surfaces and the help available are all considered together. On Sollevita, the vertical height adjustment sets the height and the removable side panel clears the side; the lie-flat transfer configuration allows the chair to be brought alongside the bed in a lying position. These features can make the transfer easier, but they do not replace the aids that are needed. The bed, the patient hoist and any other supports must also be compatible with the person’s weight and transfer procedure.
Do you need to have mobility difficulties to choose the high-capacity version?
No. An independent person may choose Sollevita because they are looking for more space, proper support and a structure sized for their weight. The three-layer seat construction with individually pocketed springs, the high backrest and the adjustments for resting keep the premium character of the design. The care features remain available, but the current need may simply be to find a well-proportioned, comfortable chair.
